Chesapeake Bay Program Reauthorization

Chesapeake Bay advocates must effectively engage in the process at all levels and educate and motivate the public to vigorously support the clean up plans. The Choose Clean Water coalition will work with Congress to identify new authorities necessary to restore clean water to the Bay and its tributaries.

The coalition continues to advance this work through the legislative process. We have sent a letter to Senator Ben Cardin and Congressman Elijah Cummings outlining the principles for reform. (see the letter- a PDF file) 

Draft legislation has been circulating, and a Senate bill is expected in the coming weeks, followed by House legislation.

The coalition has also endorsed HR 3265, the Chesapeake Bay Restoration Act of 2009, introduced by Rep. Connolly.
