Staff Listing

The Coalition is staffed through the Chesapeake Mid-Atlantic regional offices of the National Wildlife Federation in Annapolis, Maryland.

Hilary Harp Falk is Senior Manager of the Choose Clean Water coalition. She is employed by the National Wildlife Federation and works for the 8-organization steering committee of the coalition. Previously she was a Senior Policy Analyst at the Northeast-Midwest Institute, focusing on large-scale ecosystem restoration of the Upper Mississippi River, Chesapeake Bay, and Delaware River. Hilary started her career as a program manager at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Port Isobel education center on Tangier Island, VA.

She has an undergraduate degree from Franklin and Marshall College and received her Masters of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Vermont. She was selected as a Switzer Foundation Environmental Fellow in 2005. Hilary lives with her husband in Annapolis, Maryland and gets out on the Bay as much as she can.

Ryan Ewing serves as Communications and Outreach Coordinator for the Choose Clean Water coalition. He is employed by the National Wildlife Federation for this effort. Previously, Ryan has worked for the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, building grassroots support for environmental issues, managing volunteers, and working with local groups in Maryland. Prior to that, he worked as the Action Network Coordinator for the Natural Resources Council of Maine and served on the Town Council of Brunswick, Maine.

Ryan has a graduate degree in Political Management from The George Washington University, and graduated Western Maryland College with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Theatre Arts. Ryan lives in Easton, Maryland with his wife Amy and son Liam.

Peter Marx is the Senior Policy Advisor for the Choose Clean Water coalition.  Peter comes to the coalition on a special assignment (IPA) from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  He had been at EPA's Chesapeake Bay Program Office since 1993, as Associate Director for Communications, responsible for communications, media relations, outreach and public information for the Bay Program, as well as Congressional coordination, the budget and the administrative functions of the office.  

From 2003 through the summer of 2007, Peter was on assignment to a regional non-profit group in Washington, D.C. – the Northeast-Midwest Institute.  Peter provided technical support to a number of Congressional Task Forces working on regional ecosystem issues, including the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Prior to coming to the Bay Program, Peter worked in the Congressional Affairs Office at EPA Headquarters for two years.  He was responsible for coastal water issues and related legislation, such as the Clean Water Act reauthorization and Water Resources Development Act reauthorization.  Prior to his arrival at EPA, Mr. Marx was a staff member on the Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1987 to 1991.  He helped to author the Ocean Dumping Ban Act of 1988, and other coastal legislation.  Peter earned a M.A. degree in Geography and Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island.
